THE BEAST IS ALIVE!!
This is my version of a beast in a box, creature crate, or monster in a box. Core concept and components are from John at www.xtremecreators.com. I have made several design "improvements" based on conversations of past "beast" owners.

Where to start?  First you need to build your crate and so that is where I began.  My end crate is 36" wide x 26" deep x 26" tall". To make the crate I used free wood, that's right - FREE!  Check around, I used old pallets freely given by Lowes.  Here are the pallets disassembled. The nice thing about pallet wood is that it is weathered and aged to perfection!
Next I pondered everyone else's work to determine how I wanted my crate to look.  A crate is a crate after all, there aren't many variations, but I looked about and finally decided what I wanted and so I began.  One wall first is where it all started.

I decided my boards would run horizontally.  First and second wall are up and in place.  I was worried this wasn't going to be solid but surprise surprise, this thing is like a rock.

The shorter sides face board overlaps the end of the long sides so that it can be screwed nice and tight.  Yes screws, no nails, this thing is going to be bouncing around.

All for sides are in place and the extra wood is trimmed down.  I left them long in the beginning incase I wanted a bigger box.  Changed my mind and actually ended up shorter then originally planned.  First design was 30" tall.
Dressed up the window with some PVC painted black.  Can't let this beast out now can we?

New to the neighborhood and boy are the neighbors giving me some looks!

So what's it going to do?  Good question.  Many thanks go out to my wife for purchasing me the guts to a creature crate from XtremeCreators.com.

So here it is in all it's glory.  If you have questions please ask and I will explain all you need to know.

Ok, John at Xtreme does good work, but I didn't like the size of the "device" so I rearranged somethings.  Future modifications might be made next year.  Too few days to Halloween this year to modify John's design.
Here is a picture of where the device will live.  It is currently not mounted.  I haven't decided the placement and based on conversations with several other creature crate / monster in a box / beast in a box owners, I am once again improving on the design by Xtreme.
Before mounting the "device" permanently into the crate, I made one more modification to the electronics.  My thinking is, the speakers should point towards the ears of the scarees.  So the speakers were ripped out, relocated, and pointed on and upwards angle.
Alright, here it is.  Electronics mounted in the crate. Lid installed, hinged, and clasped.
Added a stencil warning to add to the mood.
